Kanye West’s One Off Show In London With BBK And Others!

Live Nation surprised everyone yesterday evening when they announced that Kanye West would be doing a one off show in Koko, with doors opening at 11pm, on that same night.

If this was not enough to surprise you, it was also announced that Skepta alongside BBK would also be appearing at the show to perform as well. From the Brits performance with Kanye West & the Grime scene, if people did not know much about Grime, they will definitely start showing interest now.

At Koko last night, Kanye West brought out Big Sean, Raekwon, and Vic Mensa, whilst Skepta appeared on stage with BBK, Meridian Dan and Novelist.

By Kanye West doing this one off show, he has helped to begin bridging the gap between the UK and the US. He has helped Skepta and everyone else in the Grime scene to be more recognised, so when they do break in the US, everyone will already have an idea about them all.

Where Kanye West was known to be untouchable it seems now he is openly collaborating with various artists, as if he is giving back to the industry, which is always a great thing to do, and you do not see many artist’s doing this. It is pretty much what Skepta is doing over here for the UK music scene.

With Drake also showing interest in Skepta, hopefully we will soon see a Drake x Kanye West x Skepta track soon to surface.

Eskimo Dance

27 December 2014

I don’t think that Eskimo Dance will ever match up to the first one they brought back in 2012. That Eskimo Dance had all the MC’s on stage freestyling and performing together. Since 2013 I feel that Eskimo Dance has become so much more organised, but not in a good way.

Grime should not be organised, as it is known for freestyles and everyone just spitting their bars on the mic one after the other. Now it’s like an MC is set to perform a time slot of 15 minutes, no crews just an MC. We want to see OGZ but on the line up we just see P Money. We want to see Newham Generals but on the line up we just see D Double E. The time their on stage is not even long.

For the 2014 London Eskimo Dance we saw P Money grace to stage but he brought out Little Dee and Blacks which was a great surprise. BBK shut it down in the end, whilst having majority of them on stage, however I felt like these sets were not long enough so sadly was not enjoyable overall. I feel like majority of the time for the event is spent on DJ sets and playing random Garage tracks, which is understandable as that is where Grime originates from, but at the same time is not what people have paid to see.

For the past year we’ve seen Eskimo Dance has gone abroad, I feel like the London fans cherish the London Eskimo Dance, as it is now once a year. So as we wait so long for the event to approach us, it is sad when you don’t see and experience what you expected to.

I did not even get to hear Skepta perform ‘It’s Not Safe’ . Ghetts didn’t even get to be on for that long. OGz and BBK’s set was too short as well.

The below pics are from the last performance of the night, which was BBK.
